Cheongna City Tower (competition)

Cheongna City / Korea

Basing on the idea of harmonic together of nature, technology and human being, the Taegeuk symbol is used as basic formal image for the competition concept of the Tower.

Beginning at the base, three legs connect the different city parts and grow up by turning into the sky. The tower is the harmonic connection between the city uses, the recreation areas, and the human technological effort and achievement. At the main noticeable position of the tower, where the three legs widen at the height of 305m to open up in the sky, like a window to the world, they accomodate a bright globe. The globe is built as a specular gemstone elevated in the high and visible from far away.
